Gold Bluffs Beach Campground
Experience the wild Pacific coastline and grazing Roosevelt elk in this campground, with easy access to a secluded stretch of beach, Fern Canyon, and 70 miles of hiking and biking trails. Located on the coast within Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park in the southern part of the parks. Access is via a narrow, single lane, dirt road. Recreational vehicles are not advised, and trailers are prohibited. From early October to mid-May, this campground switches to "First come, first served" sites.
Sources disagree on whether Gold Bluffs Beach Campground holds a summer reservation window: Recreation.gov and one park summary describe it as first-come year round, while an older park news release and a separate summary describe a reservable stretch from late May to early September. Check ReserveCalifornia or call the park (707-465-7335) before counting on a site without a reservation in summer.
